Start your mornings with the smell of freshly brewed Kenyan coffee after sunrise Yoga and a dip in the pool. Fill your days sunbathing on the white sands and by the turquoise waters of Bofa Beach, snorkeling in crystal clear tropical waters, exploring nearby ancient ruins or join a Permaculture Tour at Distant Relatives. Some may decide to head out Diving on the Coral Reef, learn to Kite Surf or choose to sit back and work on their computer in peace and comfort. As Sunset nears, to the smell of the first wood-fired pizzas of the night, you may want to join a mixed bunch of happy people preparing to play Beach Volleyball as they sip on fresh cocktails. Some may prepare to head out for dinner in the Village or for a glorious Sunset Sail on a traditional dhow straight from our beach. Dream without falling asleep–at night enjoy a moonlit beach bonfire, live music and a magical starry bioluminescent sea just down on our beach.
Bar and Reception: It’s always 5 o’clock at Distant Relatives! Our bar is open daily from 7:30am to 11:30pm. We are fully-stocked with a wide range of beers, spirits, sodas, cocktails, and refreshing home-made specialties.
Restaurant: Feast on local and international cuisine at our restaurant. Gaze out over the pool as you enjoy break, lunch, dinner and snacks! Enjoy our mouth-watering wood fired pizza as you listen to live music on Friday nights.
Communal Spaces: Chill-out after a day of adventure on our comfy home-made pillows both inside our lounge area and by the pool. Kick back with a book and enjoy the ocean breeze, nap in a hammock or catch the sunset over the forest from a tree-top teepee.
Swimming Pool: Our salt water pool is the perfect place to cool off in at all hours of the day.
Beach Access: Just a short walk from the compound you’ll find Fumbini Beach–perfect for watching sundowns, stargazing and swimming among the glowing bioluminescent water. A quick boda ride brings you to the sprawling white sands of Bofa Beach.
Beach Volleyball: Get together with a group of fellow travellers for a volleyball tournament on our sandy court next to the pool!
Bamboo Showers: Built into a bamboo forest are our communal showers. Rinse off in the most natural and wild setting!
Eco–Toilets: Our toilets are eco-friendly, waterless and provide fertilizer to keep our gardens happy and healthy!
Parking: Plenty of parking spaces for all sizes of vehicles.
24/7 Security: Our gates and compound are guarded 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. CCTV is installed around the compound and KK Security is on-call at a moment’s notice as well as Amini Security on standby.
