We are located on the Coast of Kenya on the edge of Kilifi Lagoon, approximately 50km North of Mombasa and 60 km South of Malindi and Watamu. Distant Relatives is approximately 2km from the main highway connecting Mombasa to Watamu, Malindi, and Lamu.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT– If you are coming by local matatu, jump off at Tusky’s Supermarket, where you can see our sign just across the road pointing you in the right direction. From there, there are many motorbikes and tuk-tuks that can take you to our place for about Ksh 100-150. Once you make the turn off the main tarmac road, continue following the signs!
PRIVATE TAXI- A private taxi can be organized to pick you up from from Mombasa and Malindi Airport or from the SGR. See the cost table below.

OWN VEHICLE– After crossing the Kilifi bridge, continue driving straight past Tuskys supermarket. Turn left when you see a sign reading “Distant Relatives Ecolodge & Backpackers” sign. Continue following the signs from there – we are located about 2.5km down the dirt road.
